Stop Motion Cadbury Suicides

October 8, 2008

This is an update from last year, with the broken video link corrected with a higher resolution. Thank you Matthew!

In what is apparently a rather twisted nod towards the Bunny Suicide books, the achingly sweet Cadbury creme eggs make every effort to off themselves as creatively as possible in this collection of stop motion commercials.

What isn't apparent is why they're doing this, or how it's supposed to make you want to eat them. We only want to eat things that have had rich full lives, not those with suicidal tendencies -- it's just not as satisfying.

it's reassuring you that the eggs want to get to the sugary goo as badly as you do, so you shouldn't feel bad for cracking them open. sidenote: when i was little i thought they were filled with *real* raw egg innards. it wasn't until high school that i decided i cared enough to correct myself.

Hmm, you may be right. To me the chocolate was better than the eggy weirdness inside.

Mmm...eggy weirdness.... Will, are you aware that if you go to your home page, it defaults to your Console Wars post of Feb. 4th and not your most recent post? Is that on purpose so it goes to your cartoons first? Just checkin'(in case that's not what you wanted). :)

Yep, that's part of the redesign. Trying to show off my own work a bit more, and make the posts about animation take a back seat.

It's also supposed to cajole me into releasing cartoons more frequently. Episode 11 is on it's way soon!

Gotcha. The redesign looks good. Happy tooning!

MMMMMMM I WANT ONE

Anyone else notice? They all get naked before they kill themselves!

@Jenny, I noticed that as well. Besides the violence, their nudity ensures this commercial will never be seen in the US.

"What isn't apparent is why they're doing this, or how it's supposed to make you want to eat them. We only want to eat things that have had rich full lives, not those with suicidal tendencies -- it's just not as satisfying." Its sad I know but I don't believe many Creme Eggs lead a rich full life.

wow... you are so squered... "when i was little i thought they were filled with *real* raw egg innards"??? thats a life full of guilty I think that this add is saying "the egg will foud her end in a way or another, bot they are better in your belly" or is a dull "life is short, so enjoy it" add. Whatever, i whant chocolate!

Cute. I like it. Though I do prefer the Caramel eggs over the original creme eggs.
