So You Want to Start a Rock Band

As this cartoon starts to play you may think this is a repeat. No actually, I combined each of the four Rock Band cartoons into a single long episode. The new animation is in there, it's just at the end. I also combined all of the user comments into this single entry.
Taking a Break From Animation
Yes, that's right, I'm taking an extended break from animation. I'm almost finished with an SEO application I've been working on and the cartooning takes up more time than I have right now. I will still be writing articles about cartoon software and animation programs, but this is the last new cartoon for a while.
To celebrate I decided to actually animate the monkey from the logo for the first time. For the record his name is Scribbles.
.don't forget hammers. they can put limbs out of commission without actually eliminating the limbs altogether. makes for good camera shots.
Woah, is that armando? He looks really cool that way.
That is indeed a redrawn Armando. He now has more color and bigger eyes. I'm glad you like him!
Hey! Sparky's looking great!
Does the whole thing end with someone choking on their own vomit? C'mon! Ya gotta have someone choke on their own vomit... Nice stuff Will. (Even tho I don't partake in the video game world, I am partial to the bass in real life). :)
No vomiting Karen, but the bass is next!
Will, Welcome back to the "Lone Star" state. I'm continually impressed with how entertaining your short cartoons can be. This latest sequence is shaping up to be really fun. Keep up the great work.
Yeah, well if it was a *chick* bass player it would be a different story. Cause chick bass players are uber-cool. ...and I still expect to see someone to choke on their own vomit...probably a lead singer. ;) Ever see Kids in the Hall? It's a Canadian sketch comedy troupe from the 90's. Check out this great sketch when you have a chance. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8jvl8rs95pU
Oh hell yes, Kids in the Hall are crazy awesome. I still quote them.
I'm tall, but not a bass player, does this make me better than one?
Absolutely!
aw, that's not very kind to supermodels. doesn't their tendency to date lead singers redeem them in any way?
No.
Agreed. They are a waste of space (not *a lot* of space, mind you).
So all supermodels have worms. But does having worms make you a supermodel?
I would argue that they are worms, not that they have worms.
Hi Will. This is a great idea for a website--I\'ve never seen any blog on this topic. You\'ve carved a nice little niche out it looks like. I found your site from a post on Courtney Tuttle\'s website--it was a nice surprise. I\'ll be back.
AHHHHH!!! Why all the backslashes??
I'm sure some of them are nice people.
Heh, sorry about the backslashes. Apparently I have a bug to fix! Thank you for visiting!
Funny stuff, loved all the characters and it was a blast to see the monkey make an appearance. I'm sad to see you taking a break, but totally understand! I'll be waiting with baited breath for you to return in glory.
great!
Lol, this reminds me of Dethklok from Metalocalypse. The "requirements" of the members you need from this video match them! x3 Good job :)
Metalocalypse is my favorite show, I also really enjoyed the animation, I'm working on getting into that stuff, at 13 it shouldn't be too hard.. (sarcasm >_>)
can someone tell me what software this is?????
Sam, this is Toon Boom.
Haha, I loved it. Especially the bassist part. So... got any new animations rolling out soon?
Hey, What is the animation program used to do this cartoon? And could you attach a link maybe? Thanks
hey, im a begginer animator and just got toonboom, any tips for me? i do really well in art, but at the moment lack a tablet. i will probably get one soon though. also i aspire to someday become a profesional animator for making animes, like naruto for example, and cartoons, like this video here.
Funny, but the audio was so fast at points it came out garbled. What I heard was clever. Too bad 50% was garbled.

Calico Monkey discusses animation programs, cartoon software and the art of making your own cartoons. Occasionally I release a new cartoon that has inadvertently made somebody chuckle. Such an outburst is purely accidental, I assure you. All animations were created with Toon Boom.
