Star Wars Fan Movie Challenge

April 1, 2008

Is it possible to not be a fan of Star Wars? While the newer prequels lack some of the shiny luster of the originals there's no denying that geeky giddiness you get when you see Darth Maul ignite his lightsaber.

StarWars.com and Atom Films are once again hosting their annual Fan Movie Challenge. There are many great amateur film makers out there, but most of them concentrate on live video. An animated entry would certainly get noticed.

As for me, I'm considering an entry. The deadline is May 27, 2008. There doesn't seem to be a monetary prize involved, although the notoriety would certainly be welcome, especially considering George Lucas is a judge.

I would have to agree that star wars is pretty awesome. What exactly is the challenge all about? If you don't mind me asking. Im currently doing some research on animation, so im interested in knowing more about the challenge.

Jacqueline, the challenge is actually pretty wide open. The specifics are that you need to create a Star Wars themed movie (it does not have to be animated).

In the past I've seen both dramatic and parodies do well.

I don't think there are any requirements other than "about Star Wars".
