Friends of Calico Monkey
There are several visitors to Calico Monkey that need to be given more credit than a simple link on the Friends page. They keep me going when I hit a rough spot with animation, they contribute to articles, and they generally keep my spirits high. For that they get a gold star and their own blog entry.

Cartooning in Toon Boom
JK has effectively been my mentor for the past year and I owe him the most credit for converting me into such a strong advocate for Toon Boom. He is a teacher at heart, and he is the engine behind the Toon Boom forums. When I began Calico Monkey I had a pretty solid grasp on animation principles in general, but was lacking the bridge to apply that knowledge into Toon Boom terms. I'm proud to call him a friend.
Rupert Piston
Rupert "Rob" Piston has been doing some great comics and animation at his Cartoon Thunder site. He's an avid motorcycle enthusiast and does some great character acting with his work. My favorite is his most recent short called Trailer Trash. I continue to appreciate his support.
Pat Kirlin
Pat the Pirate has been hard at work writing articles about Toon Boom and making cartoons. He contributes quite often to just about anything I write or animate and I thank him for it. He's also the one that pointed out that Calico Monkey was featured in the Toon Boom newsletter. Very cool.
That's the list for now. There are many other people I could never create this list without, but at the moment that's who I felt needed some additional kudos. I hope to buy you all beers someday.
Thanks for the mention and the kind words, especially considering how much your work has inspired me and made me want to try a more traditional approach. It's good to be able to share our work and have a sense of a little community amongst each other. Truly excellent stuff. thanks
Will, I am honored to be classified as a friend of the Calico Monkey. I certainly perspired gallons of water over the switch to Toon Boom as I was afraid that the transition might not have been as successful as it was. Not that Toon Boom isn't a great tool, but rather because I wasn't sure if just because I liked using it, that it would suit your approach. So it was certainly a great relief when you not only made the switch but endorsed the software yourself. So, thanks for the public recognition and as always, I'm around if you need any assistance, encouragement, or comic relief.
Thanks a lot for the mention, Will. As Rob said above, I've found it tremendously helpful to be a part of this little group of cartoonists. The three of you are certainly a constant source of information and inspiration, & I'm glad I can reciprocate in some small way. Hopefully I'll start catching up on the content end of things sooner than later :) Cheers
A toast (make mine sourdough) to the power of the internet and (more importantly) to JK, Will, Pat, and Rupert. May our pencils always be sharp, our Wacoms clean, and our wit keen.
Congratulation guys and keep up the good work. You can't believe how helpful you have been to the Toon Boom community you can be sure that all the help is noticed and appreciated. Cheers, Ugo
I appreciate little about ToonBoom other than that it allows you all to express yourselves. But I appreciate your community for what it gives each of you. Well done, folks.
New cartoons come out every other Thursday. I occasionally discuss publishing cartoons online and ways to make money with your cartoons. If any of that floats your boat I recommend subscribing to the RSS feed or follow my Twitter updates. Rock on.
